CHAIMAS FRENKELIS’ VILLA
Chaimas Frenkelis’ villa is one of the most popular cultural tourist destinations in Northern Lithuania. The villa represents modern architecture, attracting by its preserved wood trim of the interior, ornate moldings and fragments of paintings.
The two-storey villa contains stylized exposition, reflecting rich manor life, landlords’ everyday life, cultural and artistic needs, called “Provincial Manor and the City in the Middle of the 19 Century – the Middle of the 20 Century”. The visit to the exhibition can be diversified by the guided tour or audio guide.
If you order in advance, the educational program “The History of the Manor. Manor Fashion and Lifestyle” is delivered. It fascinates small visitors by stories about children’s fashion, leisure games and the possibility to make a colourful fan, while senior ones are attracted by intriguing 18 century flirting secrets, silent language of the fan and sophisticated scarf binding ways, requiring a lot of fancy.
The famous Jewish family of Dora and Chaimas Frenkeliai cherished Jewish culture in their villa. It houses the exposition “Jewish Heritage in Šiauliai: Merchants the Frenkeliai”, offers the educational programme “Kosher Food Secrets”, tempting to get acquainted with the mysterious world of Jewish cuisine. Visitors familiarise themselves with peculiarities of kosher food and cooking specificity, taste traditional Jewish dishes. Chaimas Frenkelis’ villa warmly welcomes the disabled. The ground floor of the villa is equipped for visitors with physical disabilities and offers a tactile exposition “Things that Talk” for the visually impaired and the blind. The villa with a terrace, park and an ornate fountain is a great place for summer entertainments.
Annual international Chaimas Frenkelis’ Villa Summer Festivals take place here; exhibitions, events of the European Museum Night, which are actively attended by fanciers of cultural events, Šiauliai residents and guests from various countries, are organised. For visitors’ convenience there is a parking lot, a place for buses and vehicles of the disabled. The villa operates a restaurant where one can admire authentic interior of the early 20 century, luxuriously set tables and taste high quality dishes representing modern European cuisine. The restaurant can serve up to 30 visitors at one time.
