Train timetable

Trains run to and from Kaunas, Klaipëda, Vilnius, and many other places that you even haven't heard names of.

It's about a ten minute walk from the railway station to the centre of the town.

By car

If you're coming from Riga, you'll arrive to the A12 road, which cuts straight through the city of Šiauliai as Tilžės street. You'll pass the Hill of Crosses (Kryžių kalnas) on your left about 12 km before you arrive in town, in case you want to stop for a short observation. From Vilnius, take the A2 road (follow the signs to Panevėžys), and then turn at the A9 and follow the signs to Šiauliai. Due to a lack of signs after the turn-off, you might find yourself heading into the city of Panevėžys - have in mind that this is a mistake, and you must change your route at the earliest opportunity with a U-turn.

By ferry

Getting to Šiauliai by ferry is easy. With a direct ferry to Lithuania from Sweden (Karlshamn) and 2 direct services from Germany (Kiel/Sassnitz) all arriving in the coastal city of Klaipeda, Šiauliai is only a short 2 hour drive from the port.
Travelling to Šiauliai via ferry has many advantages; unlike planes ferries do not have luggage restrictions, therefore you can take as much as you can fit in your car. You can also drive a car you are use to, unlike hiring one when you arrive in Lithuania, and are refreshed after a nice peaceful sleep onboard.
